Israeli solar manufacturer Apollo Power has announced that its new Panda Plus flexible solar module has received Class A fire-resistance certification, which the company says is the first such certification achieved by a flexible and lightweight solar panel.
According to Apollo Power CEO Oded Rozenberg, the certification sets Panda Plus apart from conventional flexible modules, which have generally not achieved the same fire-performance rating as rigid glass panels. The company says the achievement was made possible through improved materials and a new manufacturing process.
The Panda Plus series was launched in June 2026 and is available in flexible frameless and framed configurations. The frameless version produces up to 320 W, weighs approximately 6.8 kg, and is designed for adhesive installation. The framed version delivers 310 W and can be installed using conventional mounting systems.
The lightweight design makes the modules particularly suitable for rooftops where weight, structure, or aesthetics are important considerations. Apollo Power also supplies flexible solar solutions for transportation and portable applications, including solar systems for buses and trucks, recreational vehicles, and emergency or disaster-relief equipment.
The company is also developing an integrated solar-roofing product in partnership with an unnamed US roofing company. The product is expected to be introduced later in 2026, with Apollo already reporting that certifications for the associated module have been secured.
Apollo Power manufactures its solar panels at its facility in Israel, which has an estimated production capacity of around 200 MW. The company distributes its products through major partners and also supplies solutions directly to large customers.
With growing demand for lightweight solar technology, Apollo Power’s latest certification could open new opportunities in commercial rooftops, transport, solar roofing, and other applications where conventional heavy solar panels are difficult to install.
