Haryana Solar Subsidy

Haryana Solar Subsidy

Residents of Haryana now have a strong incentive to install rooftop solar systems, thanks to generous solar subsidy schemes designed to offset upfront costs and accelerate returns. With good sunlight exposure and local policy support, the state offers one of the more attractive subsidy programmes in India.

Solar Subsidy Details:

Under the national rooftop solar programme (via PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana) and state-level support, Haryana homeowners can access the following Subsidies:

• For rooftop systems up to 1 kW: approx ₹30,000 per kW.
• For systems up to 2 kW: approx ₹60,000 subsidy.
• For rooftop systems 3 kW and above: a fixed subsidy of ₹78,000 applies (subject to availability and vendor criteria).
• Housing societies: Additional subsidies or top-ups may apply when installations exceed 10 kW (check with your local DISCOM).

All subsidies apply to grid-connected systems with net metering. Installation must be performed by an empanelled vendor registered under the national or state rooftop programme.

Cost and Payback Snapshot:

Consider a 3 kW solar rooftop system in Haryana:

• Typical cost before subsidy: ~₹1.8 to ₹2.1 lakh.
• After applying the subsidy, approx ₹78,000: Net upfront cost ~₹1.0 to ₹1.3 lakh.
• With yearly electricity savings and tariff hikes, the payback period can often be 4–5 years.
• After payback, electricity produced essentially becomes free for 20+ years.

Conclusion:

With upfront subsidy support and rapid cost decline in solar installation, Haryana homeowners can access clean, low-cost electricity for decades. The subsidy makes rooftop solar more affordable — and the savings more real.
