Rajasthan, known as the land of the sun, has immense potential for solar energy production. With its vast desert areas and abundant sunshine, it has emerged as a hub for renewable energy in India. To encourage people to adopt clean energy, the Government of Rajasthan, along with the Central Government, offers attractive solar subsidies for residential, commercial, and industrial users.
Under the Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme, homeowners can save a significant percentage of installation costs. The subsidy is provided under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which helps reduce upfront investment and makes solar affordable for households. Typically, subsidies range between ₹18,000 to ₹78,000 per kW, depending on the capacity and guidelines.
By installing solar panels, residents not only save on electricity bills but also contribute to reducing carbon footprints. For farmers, solar subsidies under schemes like KUSUM Yojana provide financial aid to set up solar pumps and panels, ensuring sustainable irrigation and reduced dependency on conventional electricity.
The Rajasthan government also supports large-scale solar projects under its Solar Energy Policy 2019, targeting 30 GW capacity by 2025. This has made Rajasthan one of the top states in India for solar power generation.
Applying for a solar subsidy is simple – consumers need to register on the National Portal for Rooftop Solar, select approved vendors, and install systems that meet MNRE standards. The subsidy amount is directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account after successful installation and inspection.
Switching to solar with subsidy support is not just a cost-saving move, but also a step towards a sustainable future. Rajasthan, with its progressive policies and abundant sunlight, is setting an inspiring example for the rest of India.
