Uttar Pradesh, one of India’s largest and fastest-growing states, is actively promoting clean energy adoption through attractive solar subsidy programs. With abundant sunshine and rising electricity demand, the Uttar Pradesh Solar Subsidy makes rooftop solar systems more affordable for households and housing societies.

Subsidy Highlights:

Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and state-level incentives, residents of Uttar Pradesh can claim Central Financial Assistance (CFA) on rooftop solar installations:

Up to 3 kW system: ₹30,000 per kW subsidy (maximum ₹60,000 for 2 kW, ₹78,000 for 3 kW).

Above 3 kW to 10 kW: Fixed subsidy of ₹78,000.

Housing societies or group housing: ₹18,000 per kW (up to 500 kW total).

The scheme is implemented by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) in coordination with MNRE.

Cost & Savings:

A typical 3 kW rooftop solar system in Uttar Pradesh costs around ₹2.0 – ₹2.3 lakh.

After applying a subsidy of ₹78,000, the effective cost drops to about ₹1.3 – ₹1.5 lakh.

With monthly savings on power bills, most homeowners can recover their investment within 4 – 5 years, followed by free electricity for 20 + years.

Conclusion:

The Uttar Pradesh Solar Subsidy offers residents a perfect opportunity to switch to clean, affordable energy. With reduced upfront costs and long-term savings, rooftop solar is not just a smart investment — it’s a step toward a brighter, greener Uttar Pradesh.
