Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 190.5 MW solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project has been developed under SJVN FDRE Tranche-1 and forms part of TPREL’s 460 MW contracted FDRE capacity.
The project will supply renewable power to Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL).
The project combines solar generation with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and other grid-support technologies to deliver reliable and dispatchable renewable power. It also includes Harmonic Filter Bank and Static Var Generator systems to support grid stability.
TPREL said the project was completed within a compressed timeline despite challenges related to the availability of transmission materials, module mounting structures and other critical equipment. The project’s switchyard was completed within three months, while the Harmonic Filter Bank was completed in one month.
With the commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.4 GW, including around 6.9 GW of operational capacity and 5.5 GW under development.
The project adds to Rajasthan’s growing renewable energy capacity and supports India’s broader target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
