Saatvik Green Energy is expanding its solar manufacturing footprint in Odisha with plans to establish an additional 3.6 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity at its integrated facility in Gopalpur, Ganjam district.
The proposed expansion will form Phase II of the company’s manufacturing plans in Odisha, with commercial production targeted for FY 2028. The project is aimed at increasing domestic production of solar components and strengthening Saatvik’s position across the solar value chain.
The expansion will complement the company’s ongoing Gopalpur facility, which includes 4 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity along with its cell manufacturing operations. Construction and infrastructure work at the site are progressing toward the commissioning stage, with equipment-related activities expected to advance from Q1 FY27.
Saatvik said the Odisha expansion is part of its broader strategy to increase backward integration and respond to rising demand for locally manufactured solar products in India. The company is also exploring further integration into areas such as encapsulants, ingots and wafers.
Currently, Saatvik Green Energy operates a 4.8 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Ambala, Haryana. With the planned 3.6 GW cell expansion in Odisha, the company expects to substantially increase its manufacturing capacity and strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing solar market.
The development also supports India’s wider efforts to build a stronger domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem and reduce dependence on imported solar components.
