SJVN has commissioned its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar, marking another step in the company’s growing renewable energy portfolio. The project has been developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, following the tender process initiated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA).
Located near Hadhadiya and Kakanchaur villages in Jamui district, the solar project covers around 300 acres of land. The project is expected to generate approximately 90 million units of electricity in its first year and around 3,522 million units over its 25-year operational life.
Electricity generated by the plant will be supplied to Bihar at a tariff of ₹2.96 per unit, helping increase the availability of affordable and clean power in the state.
The project is also expected to support the local economy through employment opportunities, creating around 15–20 direct jobs along with additional indirect employment in the surrounding region.
Beyond power generation, the Jamui project is expected to contribute to emissions reduction, with an estimated 82,250.74 tonnes of carbon emissions avoided over its operating life. This supports India’s wider efforts to expand renewable energy and reduce its carbon footprint.
The commissioning strengthens SJVN Green Energy’s presence in Bihar and adds to its broader renewable energy development plans across India. The project also contributes to the country’s ongoing transition toward cleaner and more sustainable electricity generation.
