SJVN has achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Jamui district, Bihar, marking another major addition to the state’s growing utility-scale solar capacity.
The project has been developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) across nearly 300 acres of land near Hadhadiya and Kakanchaur villages. The initial project tender was floated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) in 2023.
SJVN had awarded the EPC contract for the project to Hartek Power in 2024. The ₹113 crore order covered the development of the 75 MW AC grid-connected solar plant along with a 132 kV substation.
The project is expected to generate around 90 million units of electricity during its first year and approximately 3,522 million units over 25 years. Power generated from the plant will be supplied to Bihar at a tariff of ₹2.96 per unit, supporting the availability of affordable renewable electricity in the state.
According to SJVN, the project has also contributed to local economic activity and employment, with direct and indirect job opportunities created during its development and operation.
The commissioning of the Jamui project adds to Bihar’s expanding solar portfolio. Another major development is the Kajra solar project in Lakhisarai, which includes solar generation and battery energy storage and began commissioning earlier in 2026.
Together, these projects indicate increasing momentum for large-scale renewable energy development in Bihar and could help the state strengthen its clean-energy capacity in the coming years.
