Waaree, NTPC REL and ACME Win SECI’s 1,500 MW FDRE Tender

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded its 1,500 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) tender to three bidders, with tariffs ranging from ₹5.99 to ₹6 per kWh.

Waaree Energies’ subsidiary Waaree Forever Energies Pvt. Ltd. secured the largest allocation of 700 MW at ₹5.99 per kWh. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. and ACME Solar Holdings were also selected, with tariffs of ₹6 per kWh.

The tender is designed to provide reliable and dispatchable renewable power, combining renewable generation with energy storage. The project requires an assured peak supply of up to 6,000 MWh, equivalent to 1,500 MW for four hours, from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects in India.

The latest tariff marks a decline from earlier FDRE auctions, highlighting the increasing competitiveness of firm renewable power. Previous SECI FDRE projects were awarded at tariffs of around ₹6.27–₹6.28 per kWh.

A total of 17 companies participated in the bidding process, with Waaree, NTPC REL and ACME emerging as the successful bidders.

The award reflects the growing focus on combining renewable generation and energy storage to provide dependable power and reduce reliance on conventional generation sources. It also supports India’s broader transition toward reliable, large-scale renewable energy.
