NLC India Limited is expanding its renewable energy portfolio with a 110 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh, which will be developed through its renewable-energy subsidiaries in partnership with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
The project will be implemented by NLC India Renewables NCRTC Renewables Limited (NNRL), a joint venture between NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and NCRTC. NIRL holds a 74% stake in the venture, while NCRTC owns the remaining 26%.
A key step in the project was the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between NNRL and NCRTC in New Delhi. Under the agreement, NCRTC will purchase the entire electricity generated by the solar project.
The project will operate under a captive renewable-energy model, providing NCRTC with a long-term source of clean electricity and helping reduce its dependence on conventional power sources.
The 110 MW solar project is scheduled to be commissioned within 24 months from the signing of the PPA. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate approximately 180 million units (MU) of electricity annually.
The project is part of NLC India’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy business through dedicated subsidiaries and partnerships with other public-sector organisations.
The development is also expected to contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s growing renewable energy capacity while providing NCRTC with a long-term supply of clean power.
The project highlights the increasing adoption of captive solar power by public-sector organisations as India continues to expand renewable-energy generation and reduce dependence on conventional sources.
